Cheap Netbooks Under $200

Cheap Netbook Computers for Under $200

Netbook for under $200
Can you buy a netbook computer for under $200? Well, the answer is yes, but only just. You will find it very difficult to find a NEW netbook for under $200 but there are plenty of used or refurbished netbooks available. The problem with used netbooks is, of course, that they tend to be last year's models. So the used netbooks available for under $200 will have Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter software on them.

Apart from used netbooks there are also 'mini netbooks' available for well under $200.

The only NEW netbook computer I've been able to find for anywhere near $200 is an Acer Aspire One for $240

Highly Rated Cheapest Netbook

Cheap Netbooks - Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ454

Acer Aspire One AO722 BZ454
Looking for the cheapest netbook that gets high ratings from customers and users ? Then take a look at the Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ454 . It is portable, lightweight, thin and still manages to have a 11.6" Widescreen HD CineCrystal display, and a full-size keyboard, (some keyboards are cramped). The graphics are run by an ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics chip, with 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory.

In addition there is the big advantage of Windows 7 Home Premium preloaded (netbooks often just have Windows Starter - which many people say is just not good enough - some go as far as to call it 'crimpware'), 2 GB of RAM, and an AMD C-Series Processor C-50.

The Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ454 is ideal for consumers and professionals alike.

Good Points

The touchpad supports enhanced mouse functionality such as page flip controls, circular motion scrolling, and pinch action zoom. Some users say this touchpad with the full-sized Acer keyboard gives ideal keyboard and touchpad functionality.
One HDMI output port with support for HDCP so you can instantly stream the full 1366 x 768 resolution to an external HD monitor for a better viewing experience.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system, lots of other cheap netbooks and laptops only offer Windows 7 Starter. A 64-bit OS lets you multitask more efficiently and run more powerful software.

Battery lifetime 4.5 to 5 hours on ‘balanced’ setting, and 7-8 hours in ‘power saver’ mode.
Acer power adapters are compact with a power cord that is 8 feet long, and with prongs that you can rotate so that other devices are not blocked from the power point.

Weak Points
No built-in Bluetooth – but relatively inexpensive USB Bluetooth adapters can be used.
There is a built-in Wi-Fi card, so you can get Internet access anywhere there is a wireless connection.
An extra 2 GB of RAM would be helpful but you can get a 2 GB memory upgrade for around $30-$40.

Conclusion
The Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ454 is one of the best mid-sized laptops and currently sells on Amazon (one of the cheapest places available) for around $275-$295.

Who Should Buy It?

What is Google Chrome Netbook?

Cheap Netbooks - What is a Google Chrome Netbook?

Google Chrome netbooks - what are they and why all the fuss? First things first, you won't be able to buy one for this Christmas as they are still in beta and Chrome netbooks for the public are not expected until early 2011, so if you are looking for a netbook for Christmas then check out here netbook for Christmas or you can directly check out one of the top selling netbooks on Amazon.

So what is Google Chrome ? Chrome is an operating system that is based on Linux, but it does not operate like Windows - as it is in fact a Web browser that boots your PC. So instead of botting up your PC then clicking on a browser to get on the Internet, a Chrome netbok will boot up directly with an Internet browser and get you straight onto the Internet.

You can't install software on a Chrome netbook, but like a machine with an iPhone / iPad app functionality, Chrome netbooks will extend the functionality via Chrome apps. The result should be a faster experience, optimized for people who use their netbooks on the go and get their programs from the 'cloud' i.e. the Internet.

The Chrome netbook appears to be somewhere between a Windows or Linux-based device, and tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab or Apple iPad. It should look like a traditional netbook, with the instant-on, browser-centric apps environment of a tablet.

What most people are interested in of course is how much a Chrome netbook will cost and whether there will be a monthly fee associated with the use of a specific wireless carrier to provide mobile Web access. At the moment you can get the cheaper netbooks for less than $200 and browse the web for free. Google will need to make the price attractive if it is to entice customers into their web.

If you have come here by chance and were in fact looking for a netbook for the kids this Christmas then check out these two from Dell and Disney - netbooks for kids or get more info. from Amazon on the Disney Netpal by ASUS

Three Cheap Netbooks

Cheap Netbooks - Three of the Cheapest Netbooks

If you are looking for a cheap netbook then you may want to consider these three - one made by Acer and two by Asus - who between them account for around 60% of the netbook market. They are all in the $280 - $300 range. If on the other hand you are looking for cheapt netbooks for under $100 then check out the Menq - cheap netbooks under $100

Asus Eee PC900 Cheap Netbook
The smallest of the three is the ASUS EEEPC900-BK090X with an 8.9-Inch screen (not particularly big but there are smaller screens around)

Technical Details

8.9" Notebook Computer with WSVGA, TFT LCD Display and 1024x600 Pixel Resolution
900 MHz Intel Celeron 353, Intel Mobile Processor
Windows XP Home, 16GB Solid State Disk and 1GB DDR2 Memory
Memory Card Slot, USB 2.0, Audio Jack, VGA Port, 3 USB Ports
Built-In 20GB Eee Online Storage
802.11b/g Wireless Connectivity
Built-In Camera
Operating Instructions, Battery, Power Adapter

Built-In Microphone
8.9x6.7x.8 "; 2.18 Lb.
1-yr. Limited Warranty

The ASUS EEEPC900-BK090X has a shockproof design and weighs less than 1kg, this makes it very easy to carry around with you but don't expect blistering performance. Current cost around $295

Next on the list is the Acer Aspire One AOD250-1165 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook
Faster than the EeePC900 but slightly more expensive at around $330 - it is also a bit heavier, but not excessively so. A better netbook and although one of the cheapest netbooks on the market I don't think $330 is particuularly cheap.

An improvement on the previous Acer AOD150, the chassis of the Acer Aspire One AOD250-1165
has been scaled down to be sleeker and lighter than the previous model whilst retaining a near full-size keyboard and the glossy 10.1-inch screen

Reviews tend to be positive

Tips
Uninstall the Google Toolbar and McAfee and other useless software, once you have done that it is pretty fast.
Thinner than D150, very light
Keyboard small but still usable

Touchpad not so good, gesture for scroll doesn't always work .
Screen glossy, but usable. Some people don't like glossy screens - but manufacturers love them ! We can only assume they are cheaper to make.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-EU1X-BK 10.1-Inch
According to Asus, at less than 2.5lbs, the 1005HA-E is the perfect travel companion. But if you can then get the version with the longer battery life - 4 hours is not long enough. Also the 0.3 webcam is not really good enough if the cam is important to you best go for something with a better cam. Price is around $270.

Cherrypal's Cheap Netbook for 99USD

Cherrypal Africa Cheap Netbook

Best Netbooks - Cherrypal's Cheap Netbook for under $100

Cherrypal Inc. has just announced the launch of its netbook which it has named Africa. It may not be one of the best netbooks around but it certainly is good value for money and one of the cheapest netbooks currently available under $100. It is not, however, the absolute cheapest netbook available, that honor goes to the Menq EasyPC E790 at just S80 - for more information on the Menq see cheap netbook for under $100.

The Cherrypal Africa has a very small screen measuring just 7 inches (diagonally) a 400 MHz processor with 256 GB RAM, 2 GB flash memory and runs under Linux or Windows CE operating systems. It is also said to be environmentally-friendly, consuming the least amount of power possible and using fewer parts than netbooks from other manufacturers. The lithium battery (included) will give you four hours use.

According to Cherrypal the Africa is a mini netbook computer named after the company's initiative in Ghana aimed at building communities. "The company ... also relies on wind energy to power its Web site." So if saving the planet is an issue for you but you still want to access the Internet then the Cherrypal Africa could be what you are looking for.

The Menq EasyPC E790 also has a 7" screen but only half the memory, neither of these would claim to be one of the best netbooks money can buy but at under $100 they will certainly be attractive to a lot of people.

Cheapest Netbook Menq E790 $80

Cheap Netbooks for under $100- Menq EasyPC E790

Menq EasyPC E790 Cheapest NetbookIt may not be one of the best netbooks you can buy but the new Menq netbook the EasyPC E790 is certainly the cheapest. It will set you back the princely sum of $80 once it becomes available. The EasyPC E790 is an Android-based netbook that has a 7-inch 800 x 480 display and a Samsung ARM926EJ-S3C2450 processor. At the moment it runs under Windows CE, but Menq will release an Android firmware update soon. You can use Skype with it and Charbax explains all the weird and wonderful details (possibly) in his nutty 18 minute video below - well worth the watch! He keeps calling it a laptop, but I would rather call it a netbook but it does seem to have some sort of word processor.

The EasyPC E790 has an ARM9 processor so it's not the fastest in the world in fact, it’s pretty slow, but that might change once Android has been installed.

They aren't available yet but if you are looking for cheap netbooks or even the cheapest netbook available then keep checking in a large supermarket chain near you, the Menq E790 should be with you soon!
